If it ain't broken don't fix it.
My Priorities:
1. Brakes. Gotta stop.
2. Steering. During 1 gotta miss if possible.
3. Tires. See Above.
4. Suspension. Gotta keep #3 in contact with road to accomplish 1 & 2
5. Driving requirements. Restraint, visibility (lights, mirrors, glass), heat for defrost.
6. Exterior structure. Just in case somebody else can't do 1 and 2 well enough and hits me.
7. Forward motion. Engine, trans, etc. that causes requirements 1-4 to be necessary.
8. Exterior appearance.
9. Interior appearance. (Do not allow much clutter to accumulate since if I do get hit I don't want stuff flying around inside a closed container with me as the target.)
The nice thing I like about my Volvo's is that the first 4 are fairly straight forward and do not require a lot of effort to keep in top shape. 5 with some electrical issues are more frustrating than difficult. 6 is a lot easier to prevent with 8 getting a cleaning on a regular basis than working it afterward.
