On March 8, 1999, Volvo shareholders approved the sale of Volvo to the Ford Motor Company. As part of the Ford Motor Company family of brands, the new millennium started very well with the company selling 422,100 vehicles in 2000, a record year. In 2002, the long-awaited Volvo XC90 - Volvo's first true SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) - was unveiled in Detroit and won Truck of the Year in 2003

Nee dus...zelfs de (eerste) S80 is nog geheel door Volvo onafhankelijk ontwikkeld. Deze kwam namelijk in 1998 of 1999 op de markt als ik mij niet vergis. De rest daarna heeft een Ford vinger in de pap.

Heeft iemand die (Oranje!) Focus ST gezien nu we het over Ford hebben? Volvo 2.5 5 cil. turbo motor er in van de S40/V50. TopGear was er hilarisch over.

Ja toen ging het helemaal naar Ford, maar ik dacht toch echt dat Ford al langer aandeelhouder was (lees: vinger in de pap).
