Alleen... ik kan kan echt niet vinden waar... ik heb al eens wat rond het inlaatspruitstuk gespoten met brake-cleaner, maar de motor reageert er niet op...:-( Brandstofdrukregelaar heb ik ook reeds vervangen. Zou het in de richting kunnen gaan van carter-ontluchting ofzo...? Ik ben zelf reeds 25 jaar monteur en vind het zelf nogal gênant dat ik zo'n probleem niet kan aanpakken...
Hopelijk kan iemand me hierbij verder helpen... Ik lees dat er hier toch behoorlijk wat kennis is van de 240's...;-)

Wanneer ie stationair draait, bedrijfswarm, dan hapert ie soms en terwijl ie even hapert, licht het lampje van "lambda" heel even op en als ie weer mooi draait gaat het gelijk weer uit.
Ikzelf denk aan valse lucht zuigen. Gewoon rijden doet hij prima. Het lambda lampje verraad volgens mij dat het mengsel dus niet okee is (-->bij stationair draaien)... Onlangs is de Volvo Historic Rally Club opgericht. Erik Koeze, de voorzitter en succesvol in menig rally met zijn 144GT laat weten dat dit initiatief is voortgekomen vanuit de leden van het Sportregister van de Volvo Klassieker Vereniging. Er is contact geweest met de Saab Club, deze club heeft een rally club (SHRT) die naast de algemene vereniging werkt in plaats van daarbinnen. Dit proberen wij nu ook te bewerkstelligen.
Met een eigen club kan meer invulling gegeven worden aan rally rijden dan binnen een grotere organisatie die hierin minder geëigend is. Verzekeringstechnisch gezien kunnen zaken nu beter worden ingekleurd en qua activiteiten kunnen we onafhankelijk beslissen.

Volvo Historic Rally Team
We kunnen nu gelijk opschakelen en dat doen we door het vormen van het Volvo Historic Rally Team. De sportieve Volvo rallyrijder kan zich hiervoor registeren. We zullen dan in team verband meedoen aan de rally’s en strijden dan met andere merken mee om de team prijs. Ook binnen onze eigen gelederen kan er gestreden worden om een individuele prijs, per categorie, die we aan het eind van het seizoen zullen uitreiken. Een aantal wedstrijden tellen hiervoor mee.
Lijkt het u leuk om hieraan mee te doen, dan kunt u uw team opgeven op onze website, kijk hiervoor op www.volvohrc.com. Wel graag tijdig reageren, de teams worden in maart ingedeeld en de stickers voor de auto’s volgen dan op korte termijn. Zie de website voor meer informatie. Hier zal ook binnenkort de kleding en andere attributen te bestellen zijn.

Jonge – en nieuwe rijders
Voor jonge rijders en nieuwe rijders gaan we ook allerlei mogelijkheden creëren bijv. hulp bij het opstarten van een lowbudget rally Volvo. Zo staat er op de website hoe simpele aanpassingen gemaakt kunnen worden om de auto degelijker te maken.
Daarnaast is er binnenkort een cursus kaartlezen met een kleine rit om kennis te maken met deze mooie sport. Iedereen met een Volvo kan zich hier overigens voor inschrijven. Je kunt dan later beslissen of deze tak van sport iets voor je is en dat je je hier verder in wilt verdiepen. Deze cursus wordt gegeven op 22 februari 2015, aanmelden kan nog via www.volvohrc.com.

Samenwerking met alle clubs
De Volvo Historic Rally Club staat open voor de leden van alle nationale (en later ook internationale) Volvoclubs. Hierdoor zijn ook latere modellen welkom, zoals de 240. Dit jaar zal er ook nog een eigen rallyevent georganiseerd worden en niet uitgesloten is dat we in de toekomst met het Saab Historic Rally Team iets zullen ontwikkelen met enige gezonde rivaliteit.

Lijkt onze club u interessant, houdt dan de website en nieuwsbrief in de gaten om op de hoogte gehouden te worden van de activiteiten van VolvoHRC.

Almost 2.9 million cars were made during the 19 years the 240 was produced; the car that first was criticized for its boring and boxy appearance, but during its lifetime managed to set the international standard for both safety and environment, win the European Touring Car Championship and achieve the status of yuppie cult car before it was discontinued in May 1993.

The Volvo 240 was introduced in August 1974 as a logical continuation and development of the popular 140 series of cars, featuring a number of new and innovative technical solutions in many areas. This was especially emphasised by the very high level of safety and the car bore a strong visual resemblance to the VESC safety concept car that Volvo had showed two years earlier. This, among many other details, meant very large bumpers which gave the 240 its characteristic protruding jaw up front. The 240's dynamic and safety properties were well received but less so its aesthetic values. The design was considered boring and perpendicular.
Like the 140 series some years before, the 240 was also marketed in a more luxurious version with a six-cylinder engine, the 260, and as an estate; Volvo's pièce de resistance. The Volvo 245 almost became synonymous with the very concept of estate cars or station wagons in general. A truly versatile car that swallowed everything imaginable while at the same time, was both fun to drive and comfortable, and featuring the highest safety level on the automotive market at the time.
Set the standard for safety and environment

After a long series of crash tests carried out by the US traffic safety authority NHTSA, using 240 and its competitors, it became clear that the Volvo 244 by far provided the best occupant protection. The results were therefore used to form the basis for the future US safety legislation for all cars that were going to be sold on the American market.

At the same time, Volvo also worked intensively on emission control, trying to control the unregulated oxidizing catalyst that was going to be introduced soon and to make it - under certain conditions - reduce the three harmful substances hydrocarbons (HC), carbon monoxide (CO) and nitric oxides (NOX) to negligible levels. By improving the exhaust cleaning capacity through controlling the fuel/air mixture in the narrow band where the ratio for the catalyst is at its optimum, in 1976, Volvo became the first car manufacture to serve the solution: The Lambda sensor. This genial little piece of engineering enabled the catalyst to cut more than 90 per cent of the harmful hydrocarbon, carbon monoxide and nitric oxide levels that are created as a result of the combustion of the fuel/air mixture.

The year after, California introduced new stricter maximum levels for these substances (hydrocarbons 0.41 g/mile; carbon monoxide 9.0 g/mile; nitric oxides 1.5 g/mile) which by then were the strictest in the world. Volvo cars using three-way catalysts and Lambda sensor emitted considerably less than these levels. The emissions of nitric oxides were very low and as a consequence, Volvo was awarded for its pioneering work by the Carter administration.

The world's fastest wagon
Volvo 240 was a step, or more, ahead of the industry in terms of safety and environmental care and was a model that was continuously developed and updated during its existence. The cars were refined and revitalized over the years. New technical solutions were added; turbo-charged and diesel engines were introduced at an early stage. The reputation for being a boring car was efficiently erased when the Volvo 245 showed itself to be the world's quickest estate car and when the "Flying brick" swept the competition off the racing circuits of Europe on its way to become the Group A champion.
During the final stages of its life, the 240 was only offered as five-door estate car and experienced a real renaissance when it suddenly became the car to have among many European so-called yuppies. This was particularly the case in Italy where the 240 Polar, as it was called, was the trendiest car among young conscious people and achieved a cult status. The 240 family was by then handled both product and production wise by a separate company within the company, the 240-bolaget; a separate but integrated unit.

However, on May 5th 1993 it was all over. After 19 very successful years and 2,862,573 cars, of which 177,402 were 260s, the 240 took its final bow, almost at the same time as the chairman of AB Volvo, Pehr G Gyllenhammar did. He had been one of the biggest fans of the 240 over the years and had used many different versions. Several of them were real 'specials'.

The very last 240 to be built was also a special, a shortened version made just for fun by the project. This short 240 was a thank you for the efforts done by the entire 240 crew and symbolized shortened leadtimes. The last 245 to reach a customer went to a Swedish lady who were handed her keys by P G Gyllenhammar at a small ceremony beside Line 2:4-2 under the motto "The last 240 and the best".
There are still plenty of Volvo 240 cars on the road all around the world, at least 20 years old and still used as faithful everyday cars. There are even dedicated clubs that work actively to preserve the 240 and to secure its future, just like the 240 for many years worked to secure the future of Volvo Cars.]]>

Na een strenge selectie op criteria als design, representativiteit, zuinigheid en milieu, kwaliteit dealernetwerk en uiteraard rij-eigenschappen bleek de Volvo V40 volgens de jury met recht de uitblinker. Ook het publiek beoordeelde de Volvo V40 als absolute winnaar.
De verkiezing van de Lease Auto van het Jaar is een van de gewichtigste evenementen binnen de leasebranche. De titelhouder is immers per definitie een scherp geprijsde, nieuwe en courante leaseauto. De vakjury, bestaande uit in- en externe lease-experts, enkele gerenommeerde klanten en een vakjournalist, maakten vooraf op basis van cijfermatig materiaal een selectie van de 12 genomineerden voor de leasecategorieën Economy, Business, Business+ en Executive. Deze titelkandidaten werden afgelopen vrijdag tijdens de praktijkdag door de vakjury flink aan de tand gevoeld. De verkiezing van Lease Auto van het Jaar is niet alleen gebaseerd op het oordeel van deze jury, maar ook klanten en het publiek hebben – via internet – mee kunnen beslissen over de uitslag.
Vier klassenwinnaars
In de Economy klasse blinkt de Renault Clio uit door zijn moderne, plezierige uitstraling en wint in dit segment van de Ford B-max en Opel Adam. In het Business segment komt de Volvo V40 als duidelijke winnaar op bijna alle onderdelen naar voren. Alleen op het onderdeel deskresearch is de Volkswagen Golf iets sterker. De Mazda \6, door de jury betitelt als verrassing van de praktijkdag, wint in het Business+ categorie overtuigend van de Mercedes Benz CLA en de Mitsubishi Outlander. Tenslotte is het de BMW 6 serie Gran Coupé die in het Executive segment de Fisker Karma en de Range Rover verslaat. BMW levert met deze auto wederom een bewijs voor zijn slogan ‘Freude am Fahren’. Autorijden in de puurste vorm, waarbij de iets te krappe achterzit voor lief wordt genomen.
Overall winnaar
Uit de vier klassenwinnaars heeft de jury uiteindelijk de Volvo V40 als overall winnaar gekozen. Juryvoorzitter Anne Brons, Director Marketing & Business Development van Alphabet autolease, over de terechte winnaar: “Als jury waren wij unaniem over deze keuze, maar ook het publiek koos deze auto als absolute winnaar. In deze goed vormgegeven auto rijd je een klasse rijker en de zakelijke uitstraling, de fiscaal aantrekkelijke motorisering en een uitstekend service netwerk maken deze auto tot een terechte leaseauto van het jaar.
ART CARS
Vorig jaar heeft op initiatief van Alphabet autolease de tentoonstelling ARTCARS in het Kröller-Müller Museum plaatsgevonden. Hiervoor werd de winnaar van 2012 (Range Rover Evoque) voorzien van een kunstwerk. In lijn met deze ingezette richting en de rijke historie die aandeelhouder BMW hiermee heeft opgebouwd, zal ook de Volvo V40 door een kunstenaar worden bewerkt. De Volvo Artcar 2013 zal in het najaar officieel worden gepresenteerd.
